DowntownDC Summer Flicks & Shaolin Jazz Present: Can I Kick It?

"Each event features a classic (or cult contemporary classic) martial arts film that is scored with an original music soundtrack of hip hop, soul, and more," according to organizers. The mixing is done live by DJ 2-Tone Jones.

A "Clear+Vivid" Conversation with Actor Alan Alda

Alan Alda will be doing a live moderated discussion at the National Press Club, where he'll be talking about his learnings from his long-running acting career (from "M*A*S*H*" to "The Aviator" and "30 Rock"), and where he'll share new details on his forthcoming podcast. The post-program reception will also include a book signing.

"Jumanji" and dinner outdoors in Ward 8

The next installment of the summer outdoor dinner and movie series, this week in Ward 8, will feature "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle." In case you're not familiar with the program, it will also include free food (while supplies last), events, music and other activities. Attendees should bring snacks and blankets or chairs for comfortable seating.

"Field of Dreams" at the LOC Summer Movies on the Lawn 

The Library of Congress begins its summer movie series (featuring selections from the National Film Registry) this Thursday. First up is baseball classic "Field of Dreams."
