A new cooking school and cookie shop has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Frog Legs Culinary Academy, the new arrival is located at 2643 N.E. University Village St. in Ravenna.

Frog Legs, which already has a location in Kirkland, has expanded to University Village with its array of classes for children and adults. Options for youngsters include single-day baking classes for sweet treats like pies and donuts, or semester-long afterschool classes that teach kids the basics of preparing meals.

Adults can study basic knife skills or take classes in specific cuisines or dishes, like French bistro fare or homemade tacos.

In addition to classes, Frog Legs offers catering, hosts parties and events, and has an on-site sweet shop offering fresh-baked cookies and edible cookie dough (made without eggs).

The new cooking school has received mixed reviews thus far, with a 2.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.

Jessalyn C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 10, wrote, "Really cute shop — the decor is great! It screams sweets shop, children, happiness and such. I stopped by here to check them out and asked them about their raw edible cookie dough, which has no eggs."

Yelper Katie F. added, “Visited today and tried out their edible cookie dough. We tried both Oreo and Chocolate Chipper. Both were very soft, more of a cookie paste than a cookie dough. I wish they had been cold — I'm not sure if room temperature is normal for edible cookie dough or not."
