La Vie brings coastal cuisine to the WharfPhoto: Samantha L./Yelp

A new upscale bar and restaurant, offering seafood and more, has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 88 District Square SW at the Wharf, the new addition is called La Vie.

Operated by the Social Restaurant Group, which also runs Arlington restaurants The Stand, Bar Bao and Paplona, La Vie boasts expansive views of the marina from its perch on the fifth floor of the Wharf complex.

The food is billed as Mediterranean and seafood options abound. On the menu, offerings include baked oysters in feta cheese, lobster ravioli and pan-roasted branzino with artichokes. Pastas and salads are also on offer as well as New Zealand lamb chops and a roasted chicken with pickled shiitake mushrooms. Signature cocktails, wine and craft beer contribute to the elegant atmosphere.

With a four-star rating out of 40 reviews on Yelp so far, La Vie is getting solid feedback from clientele.

Phi N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 22, wrote, "Sauces were all delicious. The decor is spectacular. Our service was excellent; waiter was attentive, food and drinks came out quick, and the hostess was also very accommodating to our extra guest that wasn't on the reservation."

And Rodney H. wrote, "This place has great views, great decor, great staff and some really good food. It's a little touch of Miami for DC's Wharf, and that is a good thing."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. La Vie is open from 5–10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 5 p.m.–2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
