If a new take on ice cream is what you're after, look no further than this new business. Called Juicy Spot Cafe, the fresh arrival is located at 5240 University Way NE, Suite B in the University District.

Juicy Spot specializes in rolled ice cream, a trendy Thai dessert that's making inroads in the U.S. (It also has locations in New York and Boston.) Rolled ice cream is made by spreading a thin layer of ice cream base on a chilled metal plate, blending in toppings, then rolling the thin layer into a rounded shape and serving several rolls as a sundae.

Guests can build their own sundae from a selection of bases and toppings, or opt for a pre-selected combo like the Watermelon Lychee (original base with lychee, topped with watermelon, granola, mochi, and condensed milk drizzle). The menu also boasts a few juices, for those who'd prefer a healthier option.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 24 reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival has been warmly received by patrons.

Justin L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 2, wrote, "I've tried rolled ice cream from other places before and this is by far the greatest rolled ice cream I've ever had. It's totally worth $7.25 for this. FYI, I recommend sharing it with someone, because it might be very filling if you attempt to finish it by yourself."

Yelper Marie B. added, “I didn't see Chocolate Chip Espresso in time, but ordered #8, Cookies and Cream. It starts with cream poured on a very cold surface. An Oreo is smashed then mixed, spread out, scraped, and finally rolled into portions arranged vertically in a cup.  This is a fairly sizable serving, topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate swirl wafers, and a whole Oreo."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Juicy Spot Cafe is open from 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 11:30 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
