Hungry? A new neighborhood New American spot has you covered. Called Gravitas, the new arrival is located at 1401 Okie St. NE in Ivy City.
The high-end restaurant isn't strictly vegetarian, but the focus is vegetables. "The flavor profile is much broader when it comes to vegetables" chef Matt Baker tells Washington City Paper. "If you were to pick out a pristine carrot versus a generic carrot from the grocery store, it's incomparable. You don't quite the same variance when it comes to meat."
With 4.5 stars out of 10 reviews so far, the restaurant is off to an early start.
Maureen K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 5, wrote, "I have been anticipating the opening of Gravitas. I'm thrilled to be able to enjoy Chef Matt Baker's cuisine more often now that his restaurant is open! I have had Matt Baker cater many private dining events. His ability to develop new ways to feature the best local organic fish, vegetables and local proteins is always unexpected and super tasty."
Yelper Keith G. added, “I'm so thrilled that Gravitas has opened! I know it was a long time coming for Chef Matt Baker, but based on my first experience there, it was worth the wait!”
Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Gravitas is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday (it's closed on Sunday).
