The Caged Bird

1723 Connecticut Ave. NW, Dupont Circle

The Caged Bird is a bar and eatery in Dupont Circle that specializes in Southern and Caribbean fare. It serves handcrafted cocktails, wine and beer, including selections from local brewer Sankofa Beer Company.

Hungry? Dishes include house-made macaroni and cheese, wings, grilled shrimp and the house special Caged Bird Chicken Sliders, which are topped with braised collard greens, macaroni and cheese, yams, and barbecue pulled chicken. There's brunch on the weekends, and DJs regularly spin dance music. 

The Caged Bird is attracting fans with a current rating of 4.5 stars out of 15 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Meagan K., who visited the establishment on July 24, wrote, "The Caged Bird is absolutely everything! The music is on point, the drinks are amazing and the food is delicious."

Yelper Ty D. wrote, "The music is great at this spot. It's not too loud either, which is enjoyable. The bartenders are super nice and attentive, and they don't mess up your order."

The Caged Bird is open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)

Field House DC

Field House DC is a new family-friendly and pet-friendly beer garden and activity venue located next to D.C. United's Audi Field in Buzzard Point.

The outdoor location has a large projection screen showing local sports, and games like cornhole and Connect 4 are set up for players. Quench your thirst with beer and wine (no hard alcohol), which are purchased through drink tokens. Food trucks are on hand selling pizza, barbecue and other food.

It's still early days for Field House DC, which has received just two reviews on Yelp thus far.

Yelper Lee W., who reviewed it on July 7, wrote, "You have to buy tokens to buy beer, wine or soda, but there's a discount if you buy five or 10 up front. It has a nice big screen."

Matt A. added, "It is a family/kid friendly, as well as pet friendly, so you are likely to run into kids and dogs here, but it is really a beer garden. There are lots of activities here to keep you busy while enjoying some drinks."

Pitchers DC

2317 18th St. NW, Adams Morgan

Pitchers DC is a new LGBTQ sports bar. The large multi-story space in Adams Morgan has numerous flat-screen televisions for fans, as well as foosball, darts and video games.

The food menu includes sandwiches, pizzas and salads. The full bar is serving local beer like DC Brau and features plenty of outdoor seating.

Pitchers DC is off to a promising start with a current rating of four stars out of 22 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Andrew S., who reviewed the sports bar on June 14, wrote, "Awesome staff, amazing space and reasonably priced drinks to boot. Beautiful rooftop deck too. Oh, and some classic video game consoles to play with friends on the second floor."

Yelper John W. wrote, "Absolutely amazing place and finally a gay bar in DC that actually has top shelf liquor like Don Julio. I have been to every gay bar in this city and never seen restrooms as clean as Pitchers'."

Pitchers DC is open from 5 p.m.–midnight on Tuesday and Wednesday, 5 p.m.–2 a.m. on Thursday, 5 p.m.–3 a.m. on Friday, noon–3 a.m. on Saturday, and noon–midnight on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
