1. Momo Sushi & Cafe

Topping the list is Momo Sushi & Cafe. Located at 212 Queen St. in Old Town, the sushi bar and Japanese spot is the highest rated sushi spot in Alexandria, boasting four stars out of 807 reviews on Yelp.
Open since 2004, the restaurant provides fresh seafood in a comfortable setting. Try the teriyaki, katsu or soups if you're not feeling like raw fish.
2. Zento Japanese Restaurant

Next up is Old Town North's Zento Japanese Restaurant, situated at 693 N. Washington St. With four stars out of 407 reviews on Yelp, the sushi bar and Japanese spot has proven to be a local favorite.
In addition to the large menu of sushi and Japanese cuisine, it also offers a variety of high-grade poke bowls and salads, including a sashimi and avocado salad, and a chicken salad.
3. The Sushi Bar

Potomac West's The Sushi Bar, located at 2312 Mt Vernon Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the sushi bar four stars out of 273 reviews.
The dishes at this "cozy lounge-like escape" are served on "tapas-style" small plates, according to the business, which also asks that guests not bring children under 18.
4. Kyoto Sushi

Kyoto Sushi, a sushi bar and Japanese spot that offers seafood and more in Fairlington-Bradlee, is another go-to, with four stars out of 208 Yelp reviews. Head over to 3676 King St. to see for yourself.
The menu focuses on bento-style boxes, but includes a range of traditional options (as well as some Korean dishes, like bulgogi).
5. May Island

Over in Fairlington-Bradlee, check out May Island, which has earned four stars out of 164 reviews on Yelp. You can find the sushi bar and Chinese spot at 1669 N. Quaker Lane.
The raw fish gets strong reviews, but so do the range of other dishes, including the extensive Chinese food menu options.
