
Want to shake up your workout routine? Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top fitness spots in Troy. Using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce, we produced a ranked list of where to go for high-intensity cardio classes, yoga, cycling and more.
1. Area45 Fitness

Topping the list is Area45 Fitness, which offers a full-body, interactive workout. Using pressure-sensitive floors and walls and LED lights, the gym at 3536 Rochester Road is the highest-rated fitness spot in Troy, boasting five stars out of 18 reviews on Yelp.
During each class, participants work out at multiple stations for at least 45 seconds followed by a 15-second rest period. Area45 says participants can burn up to 1,000 calories in each 45-minute session through its high-intensity strength and cardio training, per its website.

Yelper Karla P., who reviewed the fitness studio on June 7, wrote: "The atmosphere is like nothing I've ever seen before, with high-tech flooring and lighting it motivates you to get to the class. It is well-priced and it feels like you have your own personal trainer because all the instructors ensure you are doing all the exercises correctly and encourage all the way."
2. Explore Yoga

Next up is Explore Yoga, situated at 6036 Rochester Road near the Sylvan Glen Golf Course. Offering both group classes and private sessions, the yoga spot has earned five stars out of 11 reviews on Yelp.
On its website, the studio says yoga helps improve flexibility, reduce stress and increase strength. Classes include Slow Flow, Yoga for Runners, Gentle Yoga, Yoga 101, Blend and Vinyasa. Mats are available to borrow.

3. Powerhouse Gym Troy

Powerhouse Gym Troy, located at 2585 Livernois Road, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the international fitness chain's local branch four stars out of 34 reviews. Founded more than 40 years ago, Powerhouse has several locations in Oakland County alone.
Open 24 hours a day, the gym features resistance training machines, a large selection of free weights and a cardio center. Personal training is available along with group workout classes focused on total body conditioning and bodyweight movements. 4. CycleBar

CycleBar is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 18 Yelp reviews. Participants receive a cardio workout in a tiered space that includes two flat-screen TVs, personal data monitors and a heart-pumping playlist, the cycling studio explains on its website. I sometimes find boutique fitness studios to become repetitive or routine after a while, but CycleBar is consistently a great workout and they have pretty flexible times to fit my busy schedule!"
5. Troy Community Center

Finally, there's the Troy Community Center, a local favorite with four stars out of 19 reviews. Stop by 3179 Livernois Road to hit up the 127,000-square-foot family-friendly facility that features fitness rooms, basketball courts, an indoor aquatic center with water slides and therapy pool, child-care area and more.
A wide range of classes are on offer geared toward children, adults and seniors. Look for everything from fitness (Zumba, water aerobics, yoga, 50 plus, among others) and dance to sports and leisure offerings, such as art, needlework and pottery.
