Topping the list is national chain The Capital Grille. Located at 201 N. Tryon St. inside the Fifth Third Center across from Discovery Place Science, this is the highest-rated upscale steakhouse in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 373 reviews on Yelp. 

Menu items include sliced filet mignon with cipollini onions, wild mushrooms and fig essence. The restaurant also features over 325 wines, and valet parking is available starting at 6 p.m. weekdays and at 5 p.m. on weekends. 

2. Dressler's - Charlotte

Next up is Dressler's, situated at 1100-E Metropolitan Ave., Suite 125-E, in uptown Charlotte. With 4.5 stars out of 314 reviews on Yelp, the spot has proven to be a local favorite for those looking to indulge.

Dressler's is helmed by chef Scott Hollingsworth, whose career spans more than 20 years at restaurants like Fuzion Bistro in Cornelius and, most recently, South Charlotte's famed Upstream, the restaurant says on its website.

Menu items include blackened heart of rib-eye, served with fingerling potatoes, asparagus and herb blue cheese butter. Or sample the rack of lamb, crusted with whole-grain mustard and served with mashed potatoes and demi glace.

3. Chima Steakhouse

Downtown Charlotte's Chima Steakhouse, located at 139 S. Tryon St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the fancy steakhouse four stars out of 426 reviews. The Brazil-originating spot has multiple locations and is named after the chimarrao, a traditional drink of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, that symbolizes hospitality and friendship, per its website. 

The establishment offers a churrasco of over 15 rotisserie meats, including top sirloin, filet, ribs, lamb, pork, chicken, sausage and fish. Check out the filet mignon wrapped in bacon or the Brazilian baby top sirloin served with or without garlic sauce.

4. Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, a steakhouse and cocktail chain that offers seafood and more in South Park, is another pricey go-to, with four stars out of 315 Yelp reviews.

5. Sullivan's Steakhouse

Finally, over in Dilworth, check out Sullivan's Steakhouse, which has earned four stars out of 240 reviews on Yelp. The menu offers items like filet mignon, served with garlic horseradish, mashed potatoes and bordelaise. There's also a New York strip Manhattan cut, served with au gratin potatoes, crispy onion straws and bourbon peppercorn sauce.
