A cafeteria-style modern American spot, offering salads and sandwiches, has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Urban Plates, the Southern California-based chain's new location is at 1782 Galleria Drive in the Tysons Galleria mall.
"Upon arrival, customers can walk right up to the front counter," as Eater DC describes, "where they are welcome to choose from the featured salads, sandwiches, soups or stews, large plates, and house-made pastries and cakes. Once they’ve made their selections, the kitchen will put each plate together and hand it to diners as they proceed down the line."
Urban Plates has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Jessica N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 14, wrote, "I ordered the grass fed grilled steak salad and oh my, it was a huge portion. This comes in at around $12, totally worth it! It was delicious and refreshing. The steak was done at medium rare — a little too red for me but i ate it and it was fine! I got the mustard champagne dressing instead of the jalapeño lime vinaigrette that it comes with."
And Spring L. wrote, "We came in for their soft opening today, and were blown away by the quality, portion sizes and variety offered at Urban Plates. I got the braised beef and mushroom bowl with mashed potatoes."
Head on over to check it out: Urban Plates is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
