Hungry? A new neighborhood Belgian restaurant and beer garden has you covered. Located at 1106 King St. in Old Town Alexandria, the new addition is called Augie's Mussel House & Patio.

The "Augie" in the name is St. Augustine, patron saint of brewers, and beer is a point of emphasis here. There are plenty of Belgian-style ales, as well as American craft brews. Beer pairs well with mussels, which is the dominant menu item. They come in flavors from garlic and bacon to Thai green curry. Enjoy them with some frites on the large patio or on one of the two levels inside.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 17 reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh arrival seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Chris S., who reviewed the new spot on Aug. 3, wrote, "This is the best mussel bar in Old Town. They were fresh and had a really great flavor. The drinks were delicious."

Yelper Laura M. added, “Although the former restaurant here had a patio, it didn't feel near as chill and inviting as it does now. The food is awesome. The fries are great. To drink: the punch is awesome, and who can resist a Port City beer?”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Augie's Mussel House & Patio is open from 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Wednesday-Saturday and 10 a.m.–1 a.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)
