A new Australian-style café serving coffee, tea and fast-casual breakfast fare like toasts and bowls has opened for business in Nolita at 41 Kenmare St. (between Mott and Elizabeth streets). Called Charley St, it's part of a new wave of such Aussie cafés, and recently rated a mention in the New York Times.
As we recently reported, customers on the lookout for healthy choices will find signature bowls with quinoa, kale and vegetables, plus proteins like salmon or chicken.
The sourdough and gluten-free toasts available include the Aussie Classic, topped with a poached egg, salmon and avocado. (You can take a look at the full food menu here.)
The new establishment has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 17 reviews on Yelp.
"There are a ton of Australian cafes in New York now, but Charley St is one of the ones serving the best food," wrote Su L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 22. She called the Tahini Time bowl, "very modestly priced... cooked well and very tasty. I also felt good eating it."
And Nathan F. agreed, "Amazing new Aussie fast-casual restaurant in heart of Nolita. Staff is welcoming and friendly, food is delicious, coffee is spot-on and the prices are killer."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Charley St is open from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–7 p.m. on weekends.
