A new Mexican restaurant has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Cocina Oaxaca, the fresh addition is located at 7900 E. Green Lake Drive North, Suite 107 in Green Lake.
The owners are natives of Oaxaca, a southern state in Mexico, and use family recipes passed down generations, the new eatery says on its website.
On the menu, offerings include guacamole tostadas served with queso fresco and mild salsa; carne asada with rice, black beans, pico de gallo and tortillas; tamales with shredded chicken; and pozole, a pork and hominy soup served with fresh cabbage, radish, cilantro and onions on the side. You can see the full menu here.
Cocina Oaxaca has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of 12 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Joshua H., who reviewed it on Aug. 10, wrote, “Delicious Mexican food now at Green Lake! My wife had the mole and I had the fried taquitos. Both were tasty. The margaritas were great and the atmosphere was lively and family friendly. We'll be back!”
And Drea R. noted, "Delicious Oaxacan food! The tortillas are perfectly thin and tasty. We tried everything on the salsa bar: mole, chicken enchiladas, pozole, asada tacos and pollo in tomatillo sauce. Definitely a great new place in Green Lake. We plan to go back and try everything on the menu."
