Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top dessert hot spots in Baltimore, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to venture when cravings strike.
1. Pitango Gelato

Topping the list is the Fells Point outlet of regional chain Pitango Gelato. Eschewing toppings and mix-ins, Pitango specializes in straightforward gelato and sorbet. Located at 802 S. Broadway, it is the highest rated dessert spot in Baltimore, boasting 4.5 stars out of 589 reviews on Yelp.
Gelato flavors include espresso, pistachio and vanilla chocolate chip, with sorbet options like cantaloupe, Granny Smith apple and orange dark chocolate. You'll also find pastries and artisanal coffee.
2. The Charmery

Next up is Hampden's The Charmery, situated at 801 W. 36th St. This ice creamery handcrafts a regular rotation of ice cream flavors like salty caramel, pure vanilla and toasted coconut, plus seasonal varieties that have included baklava, mango sticky rice and summer strawberry. It also serves milkshakes, floats and sundaes. Sampling is welcomed.
With 4.5 stars out of 401 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite. Stop by this location or visit its other shop on York Road in Towson.
3. Harmony Bakery

Hampden's Harmony Bakery, located at 3446 Chestnut Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it five stars out of 103 reviews. This gluten-free and vegan bakery offers up all sorts of desserts from cookies and cupcakes to brownies and biscotti. In addition to the sweet treats, it has a cafe menu of tarts, quiches and salads, as well as drinks like kombucha.
4. Midnite Confection's Cupcakery

Midnite Confection's Cupcakery in Federal Hill, is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 179 Yelp reviews. Cupcakes are the house specialty here. Signature flavors include a chocolate velvet with cream cheese frosting, and bourbon vanilla with chocolate buttercream frosting.

5. Bmore Licks

Finally, over in Canton, check out Bmore Licks, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 145 reviews on Yelp. This local ice cream shop with the colorful facade features more than 100 flavors of soft serve ice cream each day, from Mexican coffee to German chocolate. The 30-plus hard ice cream flavors include eggnog caramel, gingerbread and pumpkin pie.
There are also sundaes, milkshakes and ice cream nachos — soft serve ice cream with hot fudge and whipped cream on a bubble waffle. You can find this spot at 2437 Eastern Ave.
