A new spot for modern American cuisine has debuted in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to downtown Tacoma, called Wooden City, is located at 714 Pacific Ave.

On the menu, you'll find small plates like oysters, heirloom tomatoes with creamy burrata and smoked salmon toast. Wood-fired pizzas are also on offer, including the Classic with sausage, mushrooms, peppers and basil and the Bacon Pesto, as are sandwiches like the fried chicken with honey and habanero mustard and the roasted pork with arugula and roasted red peppers.

For heartier fare, try house favorites like the lamb Bolognese or the seared halibut. Check out the full menu here.

Wooden City has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp.

"Delicious food and drinks, outdoor patio seating and dogs are welcome!" wrote Yelper Sheri K. "Excited to see their new partnership with Odd Otter. Menu isn't huge but offers something for every palate, and stays competitive with the newer, trendy restaurant menu items."

And Annie M. noted, "What a great new place in downtown Tacoma! I ordered the vegetarian pizza and it was fantastic. My friend loved her Bolognese too. The service was excellent and the ambiance was stellar. I'll definitely be back here!"

Head on over to check it out: Wooden City is open from 5 p.m.–midnight on Monday-Thursday and 5 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
