Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top breakfast and brunch spots around Washington, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to venture when cravings strike.
1. Founding Farmers

Topping the list is Founding Farmers. Located at 1924 Pennsylvania Ave. NW (between North H and North 19th streets) in Foggy Bottom, the traditional American spot is the most popular breakfast and brunch restaurant in Washington, boasting four stars out of 11,245 reviews on Yelp.
The East Coast-based chain is owned by the more than 47,000 family farmers of North Dakota Farmers' Union and is supplied by hundreds of family farms, per its website. Breakfast and brunch items include vanilla cream-filled French toast topped with maple cinnamon sugar, strawberries and cream or banana foster; and buttermilk pancakes that can be topped with chocolate chips, whipped blueberry butter or banana foster. 2. Old Ebbitt Grill

Next up is Downtown's Old Ebbitt Grill, situated at 675 15th St. NW (between North F and North G streets). With four stars out of 6,841 reviews on Yelp, this has proven to be a local favorite.
Just steps from the White House and museums in downtown Washington, the spot has served historic figures — including Presidents Grant, Cleveland, Harding and Theodore Roosevelt — since its establishment in 1856. The breakfast and brunch menu includes the All-American Breakfast, eggs and an array of meat options, served with home fries, grits or seasonal fruit and toast. Omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, french toast and pastries are also available.
3. Le Diplomate

Logan Circle's Le Diplomate, located at 1601 14th St. NW (between North Q and North Corcoran streets), is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the French bistro 4.5 stars out of 2,584 reviews.
The brunch menu includes cheese platters; Eggs Vol-Au-Vent, made with chanterelle mushrooms, creamed cippolinis, crème fraîche; and a yogurt parfait with strawberry confiture and house granola. The restaurant also offers an array of salads and sandwiches.
4. A Baked Joint

A Baked Joint, a breakfast and brunch spot in Mount Vernon Square, is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 1,317 Yelp reviews. Head over to 440 K St. NW (between North Fourth and North Fifth streets) to see for yourself.
Morning sandwiches include the NC Country Ham, made with thick, salty NC ham, organic eggs, cheddar cheese and mayo on a bolillo roll. Craving something sweet? Check out the yogurt-granola bowl, served with organic plain yogurt, fresh fruit, original Hippie Crack granola, and agave or honey.
5. Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab

Downtown, check out Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 991 reviews on Yelp. You can find the downtown spot, which has multiple locations, at 750 15th St. NW (between North Pennsylvania Avenue and North H Street).
The brunch menu includes appetizers like spinach-stuffed mushrooms, fried calamari and fried oysters. Specialties include Joe's Scramble, made with your choice of pork or chicken sausage, spinach, mushrooms, fontina cheese and roasted tomatoes, and served with a golden potato cake, toast and jam.
