Interested in checking out the newest food and drink establishments in Tacoma? From a cidery to a Mexican restaurant, read on for a list of the newest hot spots to land around town.
Locust Cider

A North End newcomer, Locust Cider puts "innovative spins on classic cider-making methods to bring out the best in the everyday apple," it says on its website. The family-owned business was established in 2015 in Woodinville and has another location in Ballard. The new taproom is located at 2805 Sixth Ave.
The cidery uses locally sourced Pacific Northwest ingredients and pairs its cider with pizza in its taproom. Look for ciders like the Sweet Aged Apple, a deep and full-bodied aged cider; the creamy Vanilla Bean; and the seasonal Watermelon. See all of the Locust cider brews here.
The Plaid Pig

Wander over to 5214 S. Tacoma Way and you'll find The Plaid Pig, a new music venue and dive bar. It hosts regional and national metal and punk bands, mostly on weekends and features a full bar with spirits, beer and signature cocktails on offer.
Ready to play? The Plaid Pig features foosball, air hockey, cornhole, billiards and darts. Visit the bar's Facebook page to see a schedule of upcoming performances.
Anthem Coffee

Local chain Anthem Coffee, offering caffeinated beverages, craft beer and light bites, recently opened a new cafe and coffee shop at 5005 Main St., Suite 105, at Point Ruston.
Specialty coffees and teas are on offer, as are classic favorites like espressos, americanos, lattes and macchiatos. Looking for something to eat? Score a housemade pastry like a scone or cinnamon roll, or opt for a savory bite like a turkey, cheddar and bacon sandwich, naan bread pizzas or sweet potato fries. Check out the website for a full menu and for more information.
Casa Moreno Restaurant

Casa Moreno Restaurant dishes up Mexican-American classics like carnitas tacos, arroz con pollo and steak fajitas. It's located at 3802 S. Cedar St in the former Agaves Grill space. Thirsty? Grab a margarita or Mexican beer. Lunch specials are available on weekdays and include tamales, quesadillas and more.
