Local pizzeria chain HomeSlyce recently opened a new shop in the Charles Village area in the former PJ's Pub space.

At the eatery, you can build your own pizza or go with a house-designed option, like The Touchdown, made with spicy ground beef, chopped tomatoes, onions, parsley and feta. There are also sandwiches such as the Three Little Pigs (bacon, pepperoni and sausage), calzones, soups and salads. A full bar rounds things out.

HomeSlyce JHU is off to a strong start with 4.5 stars out of three reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Rukiye K., who reviewed it on Aug. 8, wrote, "Great fries! Taste like fried but actually they're baked — very healthy. They have a sauce called yummy yummy. Manager is a very nice and fun guy."

Al J. noted, "HomeSlyce is a nice pizza bar. They have a unique personal pizza called a HomeSlyce that looks like a pizza boat. The crust is good and so if you like that the personal Slyce is the way go."

HomeSlyce JHU is open from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.–midnight on Thursday, and 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)

Get Shredded Vintage is a store selling used, vintage and arts-and-crafts items, from clothes to home decor. It also features newly made items from local producers, like jewelry and gifts, plus sunglasses and candles.

In addition to its goods, Get Shredded Vintage offers a place for area musicians and artists to network and see their works on display.

It's still early days for Get Shredded Vintage, which has just one review on Yelp so far.

Yelper Maya T., who reviewed it on Aug. 8, wrote, "Sara, the owner, is the sweetest. She helped me choose clothing items and told me about where she found all her unique clothing pieces. The items were reasonably priced and in great condition."

Get Shredded Vintage is open from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on Wednesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)

Red Star Charles Village is a spot to score American and Latin American food near Johns Hopkins.

It's a sibling of Red Star in Fells Point, and while there are similarities between the two establishments' menus, the new Red Star has some new items as well.

Pizza is gone from the list, for example, in favor of tacos, including tuna, spicy shredded chicken and black bean versions. There are appetizers like calamari and deviled eggs with crab meat; entrees such as a bistro steak and pan-seared crab cakes; plus a long list of burgers. Drinks range from beer and wine to cocktails.

Yelpers are still warming up to Red Star Charles Village, which currently holds 3.5 stars out of nine reviews on the site.

Xinting Y., who reviewed the restaurant on Aug. 8, wrote, "Not too bad. I loved my sweet potato fries, and they gave you a complementary cup of ketchup. The good burger was indeed good, the onion was nicely caramelized and the mushroom inside was very juicy."

Red Star Charles Village is open from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
