Craving salads and rustic American cuisine? You're in luck: a new fast-casual eatery has opened its doors at the Mall in Columbia. Located at 10300 Little Patuxent Parkway, Suite 3035, the newcomer is called Urban Plates.
This is one of the California-based chain's first East Coast outposts. On its website, the company says it offers made-from-scratch fare and focuses on locally, sustainably and ethically sourced ingredients.
You'll find a menu of hand-tossed salads, sandwiches, soups and sides. Consider combo plates of grilled chicken, turkey meatloaf or ahi tuna paired with two sides, like roasted old bay potatoes, harissa-flavored corn on the cob or fresh fruit. New options are offered seasonally.
Beer, wine and desserts round out the menu.
The new restaurant is off to a strong start with a 4.5-star rating out of 12 reviews on Yelp.
Bill C., wrote, "Great food and staff is really helpful and friendly. Diverse menu, specialty soft drinks and a nice selection of wine and craft brew. This is my new favorite restaurant."
DaVonna H. added, "The food is fresh and you'll definitely get your money's worth! The staff is friendly and it shows there's been a lot of details to everything from the menu to the decor and the layout. I recommend the Moroccan chicken with rice and mango tart for dessert."
Urban Plates is open 11 a.m.–9:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday and Sunday, and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
