If you've got Mexican cuisine on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The fresh addition to Bethesda Row, called Fish Taco, is located at 7251 Woodmont Ave., where Secolari used to be.
Fish Taco is a counter-service, locally based eatery that is serving tacos and other Mexican standards. Previously located several blocks away on Wisconsin Avenue, it opened the new, larger restaurant in July. Its other outposts are in the Wildwood Shopping Center and Cabin John.
The restaurant focuses on a handful of proteins, including fish prepared three ways (beer-battered, blackened, grilled) and ancho shrimp, plus adobo chicken, carnitas, barbacoa and steak. These are served with salsas and various toppings (cabbage, charred corn, beans, jalapeños and more) on corn tortillas, on a bed of rice, as a salad or as a quesadilla. Beverages include margaritas, draft beer and wine.
Fish Taco is off to a promising start with a four-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Cora C., who reviewed the new eatery on Aug. 3, wrote, "Fish Taco moved from a smaller location to this one. Now the space is more open and the decor is very modern. Fish Taco is an upscale Chipotle with more fish options. You get good food, good portions, at a reasonable price."
Pete L. added, "The new location is lovely, warm, welcoming, and the patio outside is gorgeous. I can't wait for a nice day to sit outside with margaritas. The food is always excellent. I have had their bowls, street tacos, fish tacos and chicken tortilla soup, which is to die for."
Head on over to check it out: Fish Taco is open from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Friday, 10:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
