A new spot serving Puerto Rican and Latin street food has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 51 N. 12th St. in Center City, the newcomer is called Loco Lucho's Latino Kitchen. The family-owned and operated business was established by Puerto Rico native Luis Liceaga.
Loco Lucho's specializes in savory empanadas. Look out for beef, pork, veggie and chicken-based offerings with a variety of dipping sauces, like cilantro mayo, garlic mojito, crazy ketchup and chimichurri.
Appetizers like chicken skewers, crab croquettes and Puerto Rican fried chicken are on offer, as are a variety of sandwiches. Try out the Cubano, a jamon and queso, or a ham, egg and cheese.
Loco Lucho's Latino Kitchen has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.
Abdou B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 12, wrote, "Read about this place in the Reading Terminal and lots of my Puerto Rican friends always claim that their food is the best out of South American cuisine. ... I will definitely recommend this place and try it again."
And Emanuel R. wrote, "You have to try it for yourself! We visited Loco Lucho today, and we are definitely going back very soon. My wife and I ordered sandwiches. I had the Frita Cubana and my wife had the Bistec. Both of them were so good my wife and I made a deal, and we both ate half of each other's sandwiches."
Head on over to check it out: Loco Lucho's Latino Kitchen is open from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily.
