A new music venue and dive bar has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called The Plaid Pig, the fresh addition is located at 5214 S. Tacoma Way.

The new spot hosts regional and national punk and metal bands on the weekends. Visit the bar's Facebook page to see a schedule of upcoming performances.

The full bar features beer, spirits and signature cocktails. Games are also on offer, including air hockey, foosball, cornhole, billiards and darts.

It's still early days for The Plaid Pig, which has just two reviews on Yelp thus far.

Marshall W., who reviewed the music spot on July 30, wrote, "This is a great venue, strong drinks and I always run into lots of friends here. They have really good lineups on the weekends. Bartenders are super nice and all the prices for tickets and drinks seem super reasonable."

Yelper Eden V. wrote, "This bar in an excellent choice for punk and metal. ... It's got the gritty punk charm, but actually clean. This is the bar and music venue Tacoma has needed for so long."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: The Plaid Pig Live Music Lounge is open from 5 p.m.–2 a.m. on Monday-Saturday and open for shows on Sunday.
