Doughnut fans, take heed: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. Called District Doughnut, the newcomer is located at the Wharf at 5 Market Square SW.
The homegrown mini-chain, which includes a kiosk in Nationals Park, makes its doughnuts daily from scratch. The ever-evolving menu currently includes such flavors as brown butter, Key lime pie and peaches and cream. The coffee served is from local roaster Compass Coffee. The shop also delivers.
District Doughnut has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.
Kimberly T., who reviewed the new spot on Aug. 11, wrote, "The flavors that they have are easy to love. The crème brûlée was definitely a favorite of mine. I was actually surprised how the doughiness of the pastry complemented so well with the crunch of torched sugar."
And Victoria B. wrote, "The space is really small with standing-room only but there are a few small tables on the patio overlooking the water. The doughnuts are amazing."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: District Doughnut is open from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
