First up is Uptown's Rico's Acai, situated at 510 S. College St. With four stars out of 111 reviews on Yelp, the food truck, which offers fresh fruit açaí bowls, has proven to be a local favorite and now has four local locations.

On the menu, look for options like the Panther Bowl (açaí puree, granola, banana, blueberries, blackberries and coconut flakes), the Rainbow Bowl (açaí puree, granola and a mix of berries and tropical fruit) and the Butter Bro Bowl (açaí puree, granola, banana, almond butter, peanut butter, Nutella and hemp seed). (See the full menu here.)

Jessica R., who reviewed it on April 9, said, "Rico's made me fall in love with açaí bowls! Especially on a hot day, I love these things for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Rico's offers a nice healthy portion size that is very filling and includes the freshest fruits, tasty granola and almond butter."

2. Cuzzo's Cuisine

Cuzzo's Cuisine, which has a brick-and-mortar location at 3418 Tuckaseegee Road, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the Southern and soul food spot four stars out of 27 reviews. Keep up with the truck's whereabouts on its Facebook page.

The menu has wings, chicken tenders, fried fish and shrimp. Sides include lobster mac and cheese, rice and beans, grits and zucchini and squash. Round out your meal with a peach cobbler waffle or strawberry banana pudding. (See the full menu here.)

Mari M. said, "This truck served some of the best chicken tenders I have ever eaten. Tender, juicy meat with delicious breading. You can tell they are made from scratch. So good!"

3. Taco Green-Go

Then there's Taco Green-Go, which has earned four stars out of 25 reviews on Yelp. You can find the eco-friendly food truck by tracking its movements at its Twitter account.

The menu works like this: you pick a protein (carne asada, al pastor pork, beer-braised chicken, fajita veggies or a varying chef's special), then your base (tacos, loaded quesadillas, a burrito or a bowl) and finally your style (Mexican, Island or Southern). (See the full menu here.)

Yelper Nick P. wrote, "Hands down the best gourmet tacos I have had in Charlotte. ... These tacos have the traditional two tortillas and meat, but then employ unique and flavorful fillings, including coleslaws, fruity salsas, flavored cremas, barbecue sauce, etc. The combinations are wonderful; give it a shot, you won't regret it."
