Looking to try some refreshing brews in the sunshine?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top beer gardens in Charlotte, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're on the hunt.
1. VBGB Beer Hall and Garden
Topping the list is VBGB Beer Hall and Garden. Located at 920 Hamilton St. in Greenville, the beer garden with New American fare is the highest rated location in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 341 reviews on Yelp.
The joint is owned and operated by local couple Tom and Kara Taddeo, and its state-of-the-art tap system features more than 30 craft beers and imports on draft. Offerings include a variety of wheat beers, pilsners, IPAs, porters and more, with a full lineup of bar bites and outdoor games on hand as well. (Check out the full menu here.)
Yelper Jessica R., who reviewed the spot Aug. 13, wrote, "Basically an adult playground — they offer giant board games of checkers, chess, Connect Four, ping pong and how could you go wrong with some sand volleyball!? ... They always have a great selection of beers on tap to choose from and nightly specials as well."
2. Craft
Next up is downtown Charlotte's Craft, situated at 1320 S. Church St. This all-in-one trio is a specialty grocer, craft growler shop and beer garden with a rotating selection of 36 local and regional craft brews.
With 4.5 stars out of 136 reviews on Yelp, the outdoor spot offering beer, wine, spirits and more, has proven to be a local favorite.
"I love Craft!" shared YelperJacqueline T. "This is one of my favorite places in Charlotte to come for a drink. They have a huge selection of craft beer to choose from. As a non-beer drinker, I appreciate that they always have cider on tap."
3. Moo & Brew
Elizabeth's Moo & Brew, located at 1300 Central Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the bar and beer garden four stars out of 237 reviews.
"We’re a burger joint with a passion for great beer and good times," the business says on its website. "We love rock and roll, backyard barbecues and good people."
Expect to find a full dining menu at this establishment, along with core brews and a variety of small batch, local and seasonal offerings. (You can view the full menu here.)
"Fry selections are out of this world, and the beer menu is amazing," wrote Yelper Conor B. "Outdoor seating area is great, especially sitting right on Central Avenue."
4. Old Pineville Premium Pub
Old Pineville Premium Pub, a beer garden and traditional American spot in York Road, is another go-to, with four stars out of 70 Yelp reviews.
A full menu is on offer, featuring a variety of entrees and starters, including tacos, wings, sliders and more. Guests can enjoy the many beers on tap on the outdoor patio, complete with decorative lights and plenty of seating. (You can view the full dining menu here.)
