If you love live music, there's no time like the present when it comes to getting out and about in Sacramento. From a youth mariachi band to 70s Latin rockers Malo, here are three local shows worth checking out this week.

Mariachi Puente Fundraising Concert

Mariachi Puente is a Davis Joint Unified School District after-school mariachi group directed by Hiram and Ximena Jackson and composed of junior high and high school students age 11-17. They will perform at the Woodland Opera House on Wednesday evening as a fundraiser for the group's activities.

When: Wednesday, August 22, 7-9 p.m.

Maya Latin Tribute Band

On Friday, La Cosecha will host a free performance by Latin tribute band Maya, who specialize in dance-friendly versions of well-known classics by artists like Selena, Santana and Marc Anthony.

Malo & It's a Beautiful Day

Latin funk-rockers Malo and psychedelic rockers It's A Beautiful Day will perform at the Crest Theatre this Saturday. The Bay Area-based bands are known for their hits "Suavecito" and "White Bird."
