2018 Sacramento Tejano Festival

The Sacramento Tejano Conjunto Music Festival, now in its 12th year, showcases the accordion-heavy Mexican musical style of conjunto.

The festival proper takes place from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cesar Chavez Plaza, but there's also a kickoff party at the Marriott Hotel on Saturday night and an afterparty on Sunday night.

When: Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2, 8:30 p.m.-midnight; Sunday, September 2, 12-7 p.m.

10,000 Maniacs

10,000 Maniacs, an alternative-rock group active since the early 1980s, is known for the hit singles "Don't Talk," "Hey Jack Kerouac," "Like The Weather" and "What's The Matter Here?" Their 1987 album In My Tribe was voted one of the 100 most important releases of the decade by Rolling Stone Magazine.

They continue to tour and produce new music. On Friday, they'll perform at the Crest Theatre downtown.

Stone Temple Pilots with The Cult and Bush

Finally, if you're able to make the trip out to Murphys, 90s alternative-rock band Stone Temple Pilots are on a revolving headline tour (where they perform in a different order each night) with British 80s hard-rockers The Cult and 90s alternative-rock act Bush.
