Head downtown to 55 Market Place, Suite 5511, and you'll find Poke World/Utepia Tea, a new spot for both poke and bubble tea.

You are invited to build your own bowl from the ingredients laid out before you, including fish, shrimp or chicken, plus veggies, herbs like cilantro and other toppings. Or make things easy on yourself and order a signature bowl.

The range of teas is extensive, from fruit teas with milk foam or cream, to bubble tea with fruit.

Wander over to 1928 Fleet St. in Fells Point and you'll find Baltimore Built Bistro, a new cocktail bar and eatery.

Snack on roasted squash or the charcuterie plate, or make a meal of the poached pear salad (with an option to add chicken or seafood) or the shaved ribeye sub sandwich.

While you wait for the food, consider sipping on one of the seasonal cocktails, such as a margarita with blood orange liqueur, pomegranate juice and tequila.

La Calle

Finally, La Calle is a modern Mexican restaurant that recently opened its doors in the Maryland Life Building at 10 South St. downtown.

"La calle" means "the street," and you can experience Mexican street food at the new establishment, including tacos in many styles (steak, shrimp, chorizo, al pastor), a mushroom quesadilla or the tlacoyo, a dish of black beans, lettuce and queso fresco on a masa shell, served here with shredded chicken. More substantial platos fuertes are also available, from sea bass cooked Veracruz style (cherry tomatoes, green olives, capers, white wine sauce) to pork tenderloin in green sauce.
