Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Dominican spots around Boston, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to fulfill your urges. (Spoiler: they're all in Jamaica Plain.)
1. Pikalo

Topping the list is Pikalo. Come for made-fresh-daily empanadas in some 30 styles, from spinach and cheese to the Seafood Fiesta made with shrimp, lobster, crabmeat and conch. There are also sandwiches, like the classic Dominican (ham, cheese, tomato and onion) and smoothies.
Consider ordering to go, as there are just a couple of tables at this neighborhood joint. Located at 378 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain, it is the highest-rated Dominican restaurant in Boston, boasting 4.5 stars out of 104 reviews on Yelp.
2. Alex's Chimis

Next up is Alex's Chimis, situated at 358C Centre St. It offers combo plates of rotisserie chicken, fried pork or chicharron served with sides like fried plantains and rice and peas. Sandwiches include ham and cheese and a burger of roasted pork shoulder. Fresh-squeezed orange, tamarind and passion fruit juices are among the drink options. With four stars out of 114 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite.
3. Latino Restaurant

Finally, Latino Restaurant, located at 302 Centre St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it four stars out of 32 reviews. You'll find menu items from the Dominican Republic and across Latin America and the Caribbean. Fried meats abound, from pork rinds to breaded steak. There's soup made with tripe or with cow's feet. Seafood, sandwiches and burritos are also available. Look for a long list of specials each day.
