There's a brand-new steakhouse in town. Located at Union Market (1250 Fifth St. NE), the fresh arrival is called St. Anselm.
It's an outgrowth of a popular restaurant of the same name in Brooklyn. On its website, the restaurant says it's an "American tavern devoted to the pleasures of grilled meats and great ingredients simply cooked."
Steaks are a major part of the menu, from a flat iron with maitre d’hotel butter to a huge ax handle ribeye. Other grilled offerings include lamb, pork, poultry and fish.
Smaller plates are also available, such as radishes with foie butter and sea salt, an iceberg and blue cheese salad, and grilled artichoke hearts with aioli.
Set aside part of your night to explore the beer and cocktail list and the diverse mix of global wines.
The fresh arrival has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Michelle W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 18, wrote, "This place is great for a date, group gathering or family outing. ... Come here with your meat lover friends and remember what you're getting when you come here — a culinary experience which I think warrants the heftier price tag."
And Kyle F. wrote, "This new restaurant is beyond excellent and will inevitably do really well in Union Market. The service was excellent. The steak was amongst the best I've ever had. The sommeliers were highly knowledgeable."
