A new cocktail bar and rooftop lounge has opened for business. Called Fog Room, the new arrival is located on the 16th floor of the Charter Hotel, which is located downtown at 1610 Second Ave.

Mid-century modern decor in the lounge yields to views of the Great Wheel from the balcony, where you can enjoy your beer, wine or signature cocktail next to a gas flame.

The short menu offers you small bites, like a sardine with olive tapenade on toast, or small plates such as citrus olives, smoked trout roe or Spanish ham. A raw bar has geoduck ceviche and local oysters.

The new cocktail bar is off to a promising start with a four-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp.

Yelper S. J., who reviewed Fog Room on Sept. 6, wrote, "Been there twice since it opened and love it. The food, the décor, the service, everything. Finally a rooftop bar downtown that serves food, and doesn't have the attitude of a pretentious L.A. bar."

Greg C. noted, "Great layout for groups or couples — dinner or casual. The cocktails are delicious and original. And most of all, you feel welcome. Others in town make you feel like you're lucky they allowed you to be graced by their presence, and that's not how Seattle should feel."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Fog Room is open from 3 p.m.–midnight daily.
