A new gastropub that serves up craft brews and elevated bar fare has opened for business in the neighborhood. The newcomer to south Charlotte, called TapHaus 49, is located at 13230 Carowinds Blvd.

Appetizers include Sashimi Tuna Wonton Tacos with avocado mayo, citrus vinaigrette and Asian slaw; TapHaus pretzels with OMB Copper beer cheese and balsamic tomato jam; and Fried Green Tomatoes with Pickapeppa cream cheese.

For your main dish, try the Poulet Rouge Chicken, served with red bliss potatoes, broccolini and roasted tomato; the Pan-Seared Salmon with lemon butter caper sauce, sesame green beans and jasmine rice; and the Pesto Pasta with pappardelle, pesto, sun-dried tomato, roasted peppers, zucchini, tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. A variety of salads and burgers are also available.

TapHaus 49 has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of 15 reviews on Yelp.

J M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 14, wrote, "My two generous slabs of pork belly perfectly complemented the sweet fried/tempura egg that sat on top of a beautiful bed of jasmine rice. The curry was my favorite part. With the sweet tempura egg and salty juicy pork belly, the light spicy coconut was all I needed."

And Sydney H. wrote, "The food, service and atmosphere is great! Leigh was my server and she was fantastic! I had the salmon and it was excellent! I recommend the Brussels sprouts too! Delicious!"
