Topping the list is CYCLED! Takoma Park. The locally owned studio offers three types of classes: cycling, barre yoga and sculpting yoga. The signature cycling class is 45 minutes and designed to maximize caloric burn. Others add core strengthening or free weight components. You can also choose a class based on your favorite music, from hip-hop to Motown to 80s pop.

Located at 6960 Maple St. NW in Takoma, it is the highest-rated cycling studio in Washington, boasting five stars out of 59 reviews on Yelp.

2. Off Road

Next up is the U Street Corridor's Off Road, situated at 905 U St. NW. It's also a locally owned spot and offers cycling, high-intensity boxing circuit and strength training classes. The standard cycling class is 50 minutes. You can also opt for a shorter ride, a higher-intensity ride or one with a core strengthening component. With five stars out of 52 reviews on Yelp, the studio has proven to be a local favorite.

3. Flywheel Sports - Dupont

Flywheel Sports - Dupont, located at 1927 Florida Ave. NW, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it 4.5 stars out of 103 reviews. This international chain is only focused on cycling. High-tech bikes are arranged in a semi-circular, stadium fashion. Instructors lead participants in standard interval training rides that mimic heavy hills, fast flats and mixed terrains; in more intense, hilly rides, with less time between intervals; or in a class that brings in a core-strengthening component.

4. Zengo Cycle Logan Circle

Most are 50 minutes long, and you'll incorporate free weights into the ride. Instead of monthly memberships, participants pay by the class. Head over to 1508 14th St. NW to try it for yourself.
