7th Annual Wig Out

On Thursday, there's a wig-themed cancer support organization benefit, hosted by Young Adult Cancer Support (YACS) in association with the UPMC Health Plan and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

Admission includes beer and liquor sampling, an unlimited taco bar, and activities like a best wig contest and a photo booth.

Learning Party: Creepy Science

On Friday, the arts and technology nonprofit Assemble is hosting a Halloween-themed version of its free monthly science experiments for kids, set up in stations.

Adults are also welcome at to participate in the the hands-on activities, which include making Halloween slime and creating scary beats with music-making equipment and digital resources. The organization will provide all materials, plus a snack.

Make-A-Wish 2018 Boo and Brew Bash

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is hosting a 21-and-over Halloween-themed bar crawl benefit, plus an afterparty with appetizers. The ticket includes vouchers for a total of four drinks, valid at any of the bar crawl stops.

The event will include a costume contest for individuals and teams (entry is an extra fee), so dress up if you are so inclined.

Dogtoberfest

On Sunday, Federal Galley food hall and beer garden is hosting an outdoor Dogtoberfest inviting dogs and humans to mix and mingle. The event will feature Platform Beer Co.'s Paranormal Hoptivity and Yammy Yammy on tap, and $2 of each beer sold will go to Humane Animal Rescue. 

The event will include a dog costume contest with prizes (including goodies from Wagsburgh and Barkbox) in categories like "Best 'Other Animal,'" "Best Pup and Parent," "Most Creative" and "Best in Show."

Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic

On Sunday, the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic, with guest conductor Victor Yampolsky, will perform Alexander Glazunov's Valse de Concert No. 2 in F Major, Op. 51 and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10  in e minor, Op. 93.

Admission is free for Carnegie Mellon University students and faculty, $10 for the public and just $5 for seniors.
