Island Cuisine
Island Cuisine is a new Caribbean spot that's located at 5332 Prosperity Church Road, Suite A, in Highland Creek. So far, it's been well-received: Island Cuisine has a five-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp.
The menu offers curried chicken patties, vegetable roti, fried chicken, butter shrimp and much more. There are also vegan options including curried vegetables, rasta pasta and stewed mushrooms. (You can view the menu here.)
Yelper Shana S. wrote, "We were excited to see a non-chain restaurant in the neighborhood. We were even more excited when we saw that they had a vegan menu! The vegan food was made to order. Everyone was super nice. The chef came out and answered our questions."
Eastside Local
Now open at 3102 Eastway Drive in Commonwealth Park is Eastside Local, a vegetarian restaurant that features a meat-free menu.
On the menu, there are a variety of salads, wraps and smoothies. Look for the Over The Moon Cheesecake Bites, artisan avocado toast with hummus and sprouts and Thai iced coffee. Eastside Local also offers a pet-friendly outdoor patio.
It's early days for Eastside Local, which currently has a four-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.
Crystal H., who was the first Yelper to review the new arrival on Oct. 5, wrote, "This place is a gem! They offer coffee, tea, smoothies, wraps and snacks. The inside is quaint with a few window seats but I would suggest the patio area, which has plenty of plants, fun colors, statues and more."
Chi's Pizza
Located at 2212 Park Rd. in Dilworth, Chi's Pizza has five stars out of 11 reviews on Yelp so far.
Known for its New York-style pizzas, Chi's Pizza also offers chicken wings, hot dogs and a wide selection of appetizers.
Yelper Marcie C. wrote, "The pizza is New York style with thin crust and you can get it by the slice or whole pie. The dough and sauce are made in-house and you can taste the difference."
Red Chillez
Red Chillez, a new Indian grill, is situated at 14027 Conlan Circle, A1, in Ballantyne. The new arrival features vegetarian options and a daily buffet.
With 4.5 stars out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Red Chillez is generating positive attention in the early going.
Yelper Chris S. wrote, "Best Indian buffet I have ever had. I tried about 20 different dishes and the eggplant/potato dish was off the charts. Everything had enough spice to make you crave more but not too much to make you cry."
The Waterman Fish Bar
The Waterman Fish Bar, located at 2729 South Blvd., Suite D, is now open for business in the South End.
The new arrival's menu features po'boys, seafood plates, tacos, oysters and more. Look for custom craft cocktails, too, including the Pina Colada Float and Sunken Pirate. The Waterman Fish Bar has a 3.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Ashley C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 21, wrote, "We were there on opening night. The food was amazing! We had the chargrilled oysters, oysters on the half shell and Waterman's Platter."
