Hunting for healthy food? A new Latin American vegan spot on the Southwest Side has you covered. The fresh arrival, Healthy Substance, is located at 6852 W. Archer Ave. in Garfield Ridge.

At this eatery, you'll find items like vegan pizza and tamales as well as pastries, smoothies and sandwiches. Locals are digging the spot's decor; the Veggie Hallway features art that showcases famous vegans and animal rights activists. 

With a five-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp so far, Healthy Substance seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Yelper April G., who reviewed this new spot on Oct. 24, wrote, "I highly recommend the green mole and quinoa tamales — they had so much flavor! The yellow energy smoothie was super satisfying. I cannot wait to try everything on the menu!”

And Valeria G., who gave it five stars, wrote, "I ordered a coffee with almond milk and a poblano pepper tamale with rice to go for breakfast, all costing less than $9. Having this place in the neighborhood is awesome!"
