In search of a new favorite Middle Eastern spot?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Middle Eastern restaurants around Charlotte, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best places to fill the bill.

1. Jasmine Grill

Topping the list is Jasmine Grill. Located at 5033 South Blvd., Suite G, it is the highest rated Middle Eastern restaurant in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 477 reviews on Yelp.

Tucked away in a strip mall, the casual eatery is serving up kebabs, shish tawook, falafel and tabbouleh. For dessert, try the baklava. Jasmine Grill also offers takeout. See the menu here.

2. Yafo Kitchen

Next up is Myers Park's Yafo Kitchen, situated at 720 Gov Morrison St., Suite 120. With 4.5 stars out of 396 reviews on Yelp, the Middle Eastern spot has proven to be a local favorite. This is one of three locations in Charlotte. 

Yafo's offerings include vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. On the menu, you'll find shawarma-spiced rotisserie chicken, hummus made from organic chickpeas and pickled cauliflower.

In addition to beer and wine, Yafo offers specialty beverages including cucumber mint limeade.

3. La Shish Kabob

 La Shish Kabob, located at 3117-A N. Sharon Amity, is another top choice for Middle Eastern fare. Yelpers give La Shish Kabob 4.5 stars out of 283 reviews.

Chicken shawarma, baba ghanoush, falafel and kebabs are among the specialties at La Shish Kabob. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, the spot serves up an all-you-can-eat buffet on weekends.

4. Zeitouni Grill

The counter-service Zeitouni Grill is another go-to spot, with 4.5 stars out of 238 Yelp reviews. Located at 3419 Toringdon Way, Suite A-124, in Whiteoak, Zeitouni specializes in Mediterranean fare. 

Look for the Tawooq Special featuring tawooq, garlic, fries and tomatoes. Staples such as gyros and falafel have also received positive attention on Yelp.

Yelper Stacey W. wrote, "This is the best falafel ever. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with great flavor and texture. The gyros were perfect, too." 

5. Euro Grill & Cafe

Last but not least, there's Euro Grill & Cafe, a Plaza Midwood favorite with 4.5 stars out of 64 Yelp reviews.

Located at 2719 Central Ave., this Mediterranean spot serves Turkish, Bosnian and Greek fare. Look for ćevapi (beef sausages) among the house specialties.  

Yelper Jessica R. noted, "I had a Croatian beer, which is rare to find in Charlotte and ordered the ćevapi. Traditionally a Bosnian dish, it is absolutely amazing. I got the combo with the spicy sausage and fries."
