Dallas has risen to first place among U.S. cities in hiring for production specialists, according to new positions posted last month on jobs site Glassdoor. The city also ranked first in new job openings for general surgeons and HRIS analysts. (According to Wikipedia, a HRIS [Human Resource Information System] is a form of HR software.)
Comparing across the country, Dallas came in ahead of Seattle, the U.S. city with the second-most new positions for production specialists last month. Seattle does have a smaller population, at 668,849, compared to DFW's 1,278,433, according to 2016 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Communities Survey.
Other occupations are also in high demand in DFW metroplex cities. For instance, Fort Worth ranked first among U.S. cities in new openings for aerospace engineers.
In terms of hiring by industry, Dallas did best in wholesale, placing second among U.S. cities in terms of total jobs added last month by local wholesalers. The city ranked fifth for new jobs added in the marketing and accounting and law industries.
The top U.S. city for new positions in wholesale last month was Houston, while New York City topped the charts nationwide for new positions in marketing and advertising.
