If you've got Italian cuisine on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The newcomer to Chevy Chase, called I'm Eddie Cano, is located at 5014 Connecticut Ave. NW.

It's not obvious, but the name when said quickly is intended to sound like the Italian pronunciation of "Americano," the nickname of co-owner and Italy native Massimo Papetti, according to an interview with the Washington Business Journal.

The neighborhood Italian spot serves both classic Italian and modern Italian-American fare. The menu distinguishes between the two, with an American side featuring meatballs, fettuccini Alfredo and baked penne. Traditional Italian offerings include antipasti like bruschetta and burrata, and main dishes such as bucatini all'Amatriciana (pasta with cured pork cheeks) and tagliata, or sliced hangar steak.

I'm Eddie Cano has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

Patty S., who reviewed the new spot on Oct. 6, wrote, "Delicious Italian food with reasonable prices. The owner greeted all incoming guests and seemed thrilled to speak with everyone. It was a welcoming, warm environment, and I imagine we will enjoy many family meals here."

Yelper Andrew R. added, “A modern environment. We had the chicken parm, which was awesome, and the bucatini all'Amatriciana reminded me of my trip to Italy years ago. Definitely coming back here on a regular basis.”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: I'm Eddie Cano is open from 5–10 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 5–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday.)
