A new fast-casual Greek restaurant has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The newcomer to Harvard Square, called Saloniki Greek, is located at 24 Dunster St. in Cambridge.
This is the third outlet of the locally owned business co-founded by James Beard Award-winner Jody Adams (Rialto, TRADE). It mirrors the classic Greek sandwich shop, with menu items that use locally sourced ingredients to create bold, simple flavors.
Menu items include pitas filled with braised honey-garlic pork shoulder with whipped feta, veggies and a secret sauce, and roasted pomegranate-glazed eggplant, red pepper-sesame sauce and crushed olive tapenade. You can also get your meal on a plate with a side of pita and brown rice.
There are two kinds of souvlaki — herb-salted pork and lemon-oregano chicken — and plenty of salads and meze small plates.
Saloniki Greek has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.
Vinh N., who reviewed the new spot on Oct. 2, wrote, "Per the recommendation of a waiter, I ordered the Niko wrap and loukoumades with Nutella. They were divine. Highly recommend this place. A mix between fast and sit-down dining."
And Grace Y. wrote, "I got the Katerina (eggplant) pita. I have a garlic/onion intolerance, so they took off the special sauce. The pita was warm and toasty, with subtly sweet roasted slices of eggplant, lettuce, tomato and a few fries that were super crispy and delicious. Would come back and recommend!"
Head on over to check it out: Saloniki Greek is open from 7 a.m.–midnight daily.
