A new bakery, offering coffee, tea, sandwiches and more, has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 1540 S. Pearl St. in Platt Park, the fresh arrival is called Tokyo Premium Bakery.
The new business specializes in housemade Japanese-style breads and pastries. It offers matcha and chocolate-filled cornets (which are cone-shaped wafers) as well as blueberry tarts, custard doughnuts and bacon and egg quiches. Thirsty? The new bakery has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of 27 reviews on Yelp.
Christina D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 20, wrote, "This is apparently one of those places that sells out before closing on the weekend. We got here around 3:30 on a Saturday and there was one corn mayo bun left — that's it. We bought it, of course, and were shocked at how pillowy and fluffy the dough was, despite being out all day."
Yelper Jeff T. wrote, "The bakery is modern, spacious and clean. Service is absolutely impeccable, and the ladies working are so nice."
