Looking for beer and comfort food with a bit of New American pizzazz? A new branch of Yard House at 405 K St., Suite 100 of Downtown Commons (formerly Downtown Plaza) has you covered. The Long Beach-based national sports bar chain bills itself as having the "world's largest selection of draft beer."
At the bar, over a hundred such taps await thirsty diners, including a "chalkboard" series of local craft beers like the Bear Republic Racer X Imperial IPA.
On the menu, you'll find standbys like onion rings and fried cheese curds as well as small New American plates like the poke nachos: marinated raw ahi, avocado, serranos, sriracha aïoli and white truffle sauce.
Entrees are roughly divided into chicken, steak and seafood options, with choices like a ribeye steak plus shrimp and spinach mashed potatoes, as well as lobster garlic noodles with shrimp, crab, lobster and shiitake mushrooms. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. You can check out the full menu here.
The new addition has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a four-star rating out of 25 reviews on Yelp.
Alex L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 3, summarized, "Anyone who loves an eclectic selection of comfort foods and a beer list longer than pretty much anything around has found their new home away from home."
"My Parmesan crusted pork loin was absolutely seasoned to perfection. The breaded crustiness of the tender meat was melt-in-your-mouth amazing while the glazed cherry shallot sauce added a perfect sweetness," enthused Yelper Donovan H.
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Yard House is open from 11 a.m.–midnight Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
