Post Midterm Election Analysis

The Harvard Club of Phoenix is hosting a post-election analysis of the 2018 Midterms on Tuesday at the Arizona State Capitol Rotunda. There will be a lively discussion on what the election results mean for Arizona, and the nation, as well as what we can expect at the capital in Phoenix and Washington in 2019.

Panelists include Jeremy Duda, associate editor for the Arizona Mirror, and Mike O'Neil of O'Neil Associates.

Cisco Innovation Challenge Fall 2018

Support Maricopa Community College students as they compete for the $5,000 first-place prize at the Cisco Innovation Challenge Fall 2018 on Thursday at the A.E. England Building. Students will share their new business ideas such as solutions that connect more devices and everyday objects to the intranet or other networks. Audience members will weigh in on the business pitches to determine the crowd favorite.

Dispelling the Myths: Drag Kings and Drag Queens

Local performers will explore questions on the history of drag culture, how it challenges gender identity and how it is shaping mainstream culture during a performance of "Dispelling the Myths: Drag Kings and Drag Queens" on Thursday at the FilmBar.

'Mixed Match' Film and Discussion

The Center for the Study of Race and Democracy will present a viewing and discussion of the film "Mixed Match" on Friday at the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus. The film is a human story told by mixed-race people, who, after being diagnosed with blood cancers, have to begin seemingly impossible searches to find bone marrow and cord blood donors due to their complex genetics. The screening will be followed by a discussion.

Tribute to La Maldita by Los Hijos Desobedientes 

Latin rock band Los Hijos Desobedientes will perform the ultimate tribute to La Maldita Vecindad on Friday at the Pressroom. Jalapeño Rock and Enparoxismo will open the show.

Desert City Jazz with Mike Shellans

Desert City Jazz, Phoenix's premier LGBT and Ally Jazz Ensemble directed by Michael Collier, is performing on Saturday at the Clarendon Hotel Sky Deck. Mike Shellans, a jazz composer, pianist and trombonist, will be a special guest. The band will perform six of Shellans' original compositions, along with several familiar tunes.
