Before grabbing that cold pizza out of the fridge for lunch, consider: National Sandwich Day is just around the corner. Every year on November 3, sandwich lovers take a day to celebrate what happens when you put delicious things between two slices of bread.

To help get you on the bandwagon, we've rounded up Stockton's top sandwich joints, using both Yelp data and our own methodology. And remember, there's no rule that says you can only eat one sandwich a day.

At the head of the class is bánh mì berth Thanh Thanh Sandwiches. Located at 707 E. March Lane in Kentfield, the Vietnamese eatery gets top marks from Yelpers for its great prices and authentic flavors, boasting 4.5 stars out of 209 reviews on Yelp.

A favorite of students at several nearby colleges, its barbecued pork sandwich with house-made mayo, pickled vegetables, jalapeño and cilantro is one of its most popular offerings. It also offers smoothies in flavors like honeydew, lychee and taro.

Sandwiches come on a choice of Genova roll, white bread, wheat bread or croissant, and Yelpers single out the veggie version, with tomato, sprouts, avocado, cucumber and jack cheese.

3. Boudin SF

Swain Oaks's Boudin SF, located at 5615 Pacific Ave., Suite D105, is an outpost of San Francisco-based Boudin, famous for its sourdough bread and clam chowder. The bakery-café makes plenty of sandwiches out of its house-baked breads, one reason Yelpers give it four stars out of 363 reviews.

One highly-recommended sandwich is the Great Grilled Cheese (filled with cheddar and bacon, with a parmesan crust on the outside) — especially when combined with a cup of tomato or butternut squash soup.

4. Gian's Delicatessen
