Every year, at least since 1994, people have been celebrating World Vegan Day on November 1. That being said, you don't have to be a strict vegan to enjoy Baltimore's vegan fare.

Fortunately, there are plenty of options from which to choose. To help, Hoodline combed through Yelp data and applied our own secret sauce to come up with the best vegan destinations in Baltimore.

1. Harmony Bakery

Topping the list is Harmony Bakery. Located at 3446 Chestnut Ave. in Hampden, the plant-based bakery is the highest rated vegan eatery in Baltimore, boasting five stars out of 110 reviews on Yelp.

Harmony Bakery has a vast selection of baked goods made from organic ingredients from local farmers. Indulge in a sweet treat like a strawberry coconut doughnut or go the savory route with a chickpea tart. Homemade soups, salads and pizzas are also available.

Yelper Krista V. wrote, “This place is amazing. Everything is gluten-free and delicious. We drove a bit out of the way to get here, and it was totally worth it. The thin mint cookie sandwich was insanely good and my favorite. Everything else was delicious too (chocolate chip cookie sandwich, Samoa brownie, muffin, biscotti and etc.).”

2. Pure Raw Juice

Next up is Pure Raw Juice - Federal Hill, situated at 1401 Riverside Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 163 reviews on Yelp, the shop has proven to be a local favorite. It has another location in Towson.

The vegan selection includes cold-pressed juice blends, smoothies and acai bowls that are geared toward various health benefits such as lowering blood sugar levels and boosting energy.

Grab an Electric Pink bowl to go, which is made of pitaya, banana and apple juice and topped with blueberries, mango, bee pollen and granola. Thirsty? Try Rehydrate, made with young Thai coconut water, cucumber, pineapple and kale.

Yelper Isaiah W. said, “When I feel like treating myself I pop on over the Pure Raw in Federal Hill. They literally have so many healthy options and some of the best acai bowls I've ever had. Also, I love the fact they have a lot of their unique juices and cold-pressed coffee in glass bottles.”

3. The Land of Kush

Seton Hill's The Land of Kush, located at 840 N. Eutaw St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the vegan, vegetarian and soul food spot four stars out of 486 reviews.

The Land of Kush has a menu of soul-food dishes that consist of main entrees, salads, wraps and sides. The restaurant also serves fresh juices and smoothies. Look for items like the gluten-free lentil burgers, potato salad in a Vegenaise dressing and baked mac and vegan cheese.

Yelper Angel H. wrote, "I ordered the ribs, mac and cheese and collard greens. During that time, I noticed a lot of the customers were ordering the lentil burgers. I ordered the same thing today, which came with sautéed onions, red and green peppers, mushrooms, seasoned raw spinach and hummus. Honestly, I was a little hesitant ordering the wrap. But the wrap was nothing but amazing!”

4. The GruB Factory

The GruB Factory, a vegetarian and vegan spot in Midtown, is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 129 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1210 N. Charles St. to see for yourself.

It features many vegan burgers and sandwiches, along with some brunch items. Options include the pizza burger with a choice of soy or pea protein patty on a sub with vegan mozzarella and tomato sauce.

There’s also the GruB Cheesesteak sandwich, made with seasoned seitan, drizzled with homemade cheese sauce and topped with peppers and onions on a ciabatta sub roll.

On Sept. 21, Yelper Jamar S. reviewed the restaurant and said, “The GruB Factory has been my best vegan restaurant experience, hands down … I got the GruB Factory burger and I'm glad I did. This burger was amazing, from the texture to the seasoning!”
