The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, meaning it's time to find your stretchy pants and to think about what you're thankful for this year.

Whether you'll be feasting with family and friends or doing something unrelated to overeating, we've got a roundup of Thanksgiving-themed things to do (and get) in preparation for the big day. From beer and wine shops to bakeries, Hoodline crunched the numbers to find Arlington's top go-tos for the holiday, using both Yelp data and our own methodology to produce a curated list of where to head.

As friends and family prepare to gather this Thanksgiving, head to Arlington's top grocery store to stock up on supplies before it's too late.

Trader Joe's

Yelp tells us that Trader Joe's in Clarendon is the best grocery store choice in Arlington, boasting 4.5 stars out of 181 reviews on Yelp. It could meet any number of Thanksgiving needs, from basics like squash and Brussels sprouts to seasonal specialties like pumpkin and cranberry crackers and a fig goat cheese log. It's located at 1109 N. Highland St.

Responsible for dessert, but haven't got the time (or energy) to cook? Head to one of Arlington's top bakeries, which are cranking out autumnal-inspired baked goods and sweet treats perfect for Thanksgiving.

1. Bakeshop

Topping the list in this category is Bakeshop. It has an expansive menu of cupcakes, macarons, cookies and pies. This month, it is also offering Thanksgiving specialities like carrot walnut bread and a vegan pumpkin loaf. Located at 1025 N. Fillmore St., Suite G in Clarendon, it is the highest rated bakery in Arlington, boasting 4.5 stars out of 710 reviews on Yelp.

2. Best Buns Bread

Another choice is Shirlington's Best Buns Bread, situated at 4010 Campbell Ave. It offers hearth-baked breads, like a French baguette, a multi-grain with honey and a rustic Italian sourdough. There are also sweet treats, like sticky buns, scones, biscotti and bundt cake. With 4.5 stars out of 562 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite.

Finally, not everyone can pull off the perfect home-cooked side dish. What you can do — so long as you're 21 or older — is come prepared with a six-pack of quality beer or a fitting bottle of wine for your forthcoming celebrations.

Arrowine & Cheese

Waverly Hills's Arrowine & Cheese, located at 4508 Lee Highway, is your top choice, with Yelpers giving it four stars out of 136 reviews. You'll find a huge selection of wine, from both the best-loved producers and from the most obscure, family-farmed vineyards. The beer selection is also large. Expect local beers like DC Brau, Port City and Lost Rhino, as well as imported beers from Europe, including Germany, Belgium and England.
