The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, meaning it's time to find your stretchy pants and to think about what you're thankful for this year.

Whether you'll be feasting with family and friends or doing something unrelated to overeating, we've got a roundup of Thanksgiving-themed things to do (and get) in preparation for the big day. From beer and wine shops to bakeries, Hoodline crunched the numbers to find Bethesda's top go-tos for the holiday, using both Yelp data and our own methodology to produce a curated list of where to head.

As friends and family prepare to gather this Thanksgiving, head to one of Bethesda's best grocery stores to stock up on supplies before it's too late.

1. Hinata Sushi Carry Out

Topping the list of grocery stores is Hinata Sushi Carry Out. From rice noodles to soy sauce, this Japanese grocery store has it. It also carries housewares and even a few t-shirts and, while you're there, think about grabbing some reasonably-priced sushi or a bowl of ramen. Located at 4947 St. Elmo Ave. in Woodmont Triangle, it boasts 4.5 stars out of 128 reviews on Yelp.

2. Harris Teeter

A more expansive option is Battery Lane's Harris Teeter, situated at 4805 Battery Lane. It boats a huge produce section, plus all of the canned and packaged food items you might need. In addition, you'll find a butcher, a salad bar, a Starbucks and even a pizza bar. With four stars out of 48 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite. And it's open 24/7.

Responsible for dessert, but haven't got the time (or energy) to cook? Head to one of Bethesda's top bakeries, which are cranking out autumnal-inspired baked goods and sweet treats perfect for Thanksgiving.

1. Tout De Sweet Pastry Shop

Topping the bakery list is Tout de Sweet Pastry Shop. In collaboration with local farms and vendors, it produces classic European and American confections, sometimes with a twist. Look for french macarons and mousse cakes, celebration cakes and brioche. Bring it to your gathering, or just sit down at the cafe and enjoy with a coffee or tea. Located at 7831 Woodmont Ave. in Wisconsin North, it has earned 4.5 stars out of 323 reviews on Yelp.

2. Georgetown Cupcake

Bethesda Row's Georgetown Cupcake, situated at 4834 Bethesda Ave., is another top option. Founded and run by two sisters, this D.C.-originated operation now has locations from coast to coast. Grab a dozen or so cupcakes from their menu of classics (red velvet, chocolate ganache), specialities (salted caramel, vegan apple cinnamon) or seasonals, like pumpkin spice and caramel apple. With four stars out of 637 reviews on Yelp, it has proven itself a winner.

Not everyone can pull off the perfect home-cooked side dish. What you can do — so long as you're 21 or older — is come prepared with a six-pack of quality beer or a fitting bottle of wine for your forthcoming celebrations.

To help you get the goods, here are a couple of Bethesda's top beer and wine shops.

1. Beer Wine And Co.

Best of class is Beer Wine and Co. It has a growing selection of craft beer, both domestic and international, as well as traditional favorites. There is also an extensive wine selection of more than 500 bottles across all price points. Located at 7029 Wisconsin Ave. in Wisconsin South, it has four stars out of 36 reviews on Yelp.

2. Cork 57 Beer & Wine Store

Or it could be the turn of Bethesda Row's Cork 57 Beer & Wine Store, situated at 4910 Bethesda Ave. It, too, offers a wide selection of wines organized by country or region. It also has separate sections for sake, for ports and for rosé wines. Beer is available as singles, so you can create your own six-pack. With four stars out of 29 reviews on Yelp, it's definitely a local favorite.
