A new Italian spot has made its debut in Denver. The new addition to Lower Downtown, called Jovanina's Broken Italian, is located at 1520 Blake St.
Jovanina's ambiance is reminiscent of a 19th century cigar factory adorned with theater light fixtures, an opera house marquee, candelabras, mirrors and more, according to Eater.
On the menu, find wood- and coal-fired pizzas, pastas, vegetables, oysters and more. Look for its fennel sausage pizza with smoked mozzarella and caramelized sweet onions or opt for the chilled oysters with giardiniera and pomegranate vinegar.
On the dessert list, look for the soft serve in cereal, tiramisu and white truffle flavors. Pair those plates with one of Jovanina's specialty cocktails.
Jovanina's Broken Italian has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Linda C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 25, wrote, "We had the butternut squash and king crab spaghetti. Both with perfect pasta and subtle layers of flavor."
Yelper Brittany A. added, “My friend and I split the pasta and the muscles and it was amazing. The sourdough soaked in the broth is to die for. On top of all of that, the atmosphere is great. Actual lit candles, Edison bulbs, and easy, dim lighting."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Jovanina's Broken Italian is open from 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
