A New American and British restaurant has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called Scotts, the fresh arrival is located downtown at 927 F St. NW. British hotelier and restaurateur Simon Lowe is behind this seafood- and Scotch-focused spot in the former Co Co. Sala space.
The dinner menu offers a raw bar, with oysters, lobster and tuna tartare. Salmon is served with shaved Brussels sprouts and three-mustard sauce, while lobster cassoulet, shrimp and clams all come as accompaniments to the Chilean sea bass.
In addition to seafood, there are several meats on offer, including a rotating selection of cuts served from a cart that roams the dining room. Scotch eggs and an English sundae (candied almonds, chocolate sauce) are among the more British-tinged menu items.
An extensive malt whiskey list is available to all, though members of "The Club" are promised exclusive tastings in a private drawing room.
With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Scotts has been warmly received by patrons.
Nima I., who reviewed the new spot on Nov. 26, wrote, "Loved the decor and ambiance. Food was yummy too!"
Yelper Trace W. added, “This is by far the best food I have had in the DC area. Chef Will Artley and his phenomenal staff did an amazing job. I can't wait to go back.”
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Scotts is open from noon–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, noon–10:30 p.m. on Friday, 11:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday.
