Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Korean restaurants around San Antonio, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to venture when cravings strike.
1. Gogi Street
Topping the list is Gogi Street. Located at 12820 Jones Maltsberger Road, Suite 104, the Korean and Asian fusion spot, which offers barbecue and more, is the highest rated budget-friendly Korean restaurant in San Antonio, boasting 4.5 stars out of 358 reviews on Yelp.
On the menu, expect options like the honey-glazed egg rolls with marinated chicken and veggies inside, coated with Korean sweet chili sauce and topped with sesame seeds and almonds; the Hill Country Mix bibimbap bowl with barbecue chicken, fresh veggies, spicy mayo, Korean coleslaw, sweet & spicy sauce, fried egg and almonds; and the Spicy Gogi Ramen with barbecue chicken, onions, coleslaw, broccoli, jalapeño, spicy sauce and chili oil.
Candice L., who reviewed it on Oct. 21, said, "Great flavors that you wouldn't necessarily think to combine. The spicy elements work so nicely with the fusion elements. It's combining the Korean standards with American, sushi and some Texan-style barbecue. I am no expert on Korean food, but that's not exactly what this is anyway. The setting is very fast food style."
2. Seoul Asian Food Market & Cafe
Next up is Wilshire's Seoul Asian Food Market & Cafe, situated at 1005 Rittiman Road, Suite 101. With four stars out of 159 reviews on Yelp, the grocery store and Korean spot has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a low-priced option.
The cafe in the market offers options like fried dumplings, bibimbap, kimchi fried rice, pork bulgogi, chicken fried rice, spicy pan-broiled squid and more.
Melissa S. wrote, " There's a reason the cafe here is always busy. The food is amazing. I make a weekly visit to the market for kimchi and bean sprouts. This is hands down the best Asian market in town."
3. Cypress Cafe
Tobin Hill's Cypress Cafe, located at 1222 N. Main Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the low-priced cafe, Korean and Chinese spot 4.5 stars out of 20 reviews.
For Korean fare, it's only got a few options: bibimbap, bulgogi, banchan, panjeon and ramyun. It's located within the basement level of Cypress Tower and also offers options like burgers, breakfast tacos and more.
